WHEAT PRICE ADVANCES (Received 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, January 2. Australian wheatgrowers today received a further advance of l|d a bushel on wheat which, with the recent similar increase, brought the values of both silo and bagged grain to 3/11 a bushel —the highest for three years. Today’s advance was due entirely to improved conditions in overseas markets. Other quotations for produce are; —Potatoes, Tasmanian, £B, local, £6; onions, Victoria Globe, £9; maize, yellow, 5/6; flour, £l2 2/6; bran, £5 5/-; pollard, £5 10/-. JOTTINGS Issues oT new capital in the United Kingdom in 1935 reached the highest annual total since 1930 at £182,824,000, compared with £150,190,000 in 1934. Capital issues in 1934 amounted only to £88,666,000. — (8.0. W.) The value of tne retail trade in Britain in November, 1935, was 7 per cent higher than in November, 1934. The value of stock was 0.3 per cent higher than the year before, and employment 4.2 per cent greater!— (8.0. W.)
