ARARUA
A kitchen evening was held in the public hall last week for Mr and Mrs Reg Poyner, whose home was recently burnt out. Many useful gifts were generously given. The music for the evening was much enjoyed. The musicians were Mr and Mrs Wallbridge. Mr Poyner thanked the people present for the kindness ' shown to them. A nice supper brought the evening to a close. A cricket dance was held in the Ararua Public Hall, the evening being very successful. The music, supplied by Mr and Mrs Wallbridge, was much appreciated. Mr Stratford, captain of the team, acted as M.C., and kept things going, which made the evening bright and merry. The spot waltz was won by Mrs Frank Smith and partner, A nail-driving competition, for both men and ladies, resulted in Mrs Var-. nam and Mrs Turner tieing (Mrs Varnam winning the toss), and Mr Noble Rewa winning the men’s section. An excellent supper was served, and • dancing resumed till late in the morning.
