FIT FOR MATCH AGAINST AUSTRALIA (Received 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, December 5. The Marylebone cricket team returned to, Sydney today from Brisbane. All the players are fit for the match to be commenced tomorrow against an Australian eleven. The team had booked to sail to New Zealand by the Wanganella next Thursday, but if the strike continues other arrangements will have to be made. The English captain,. Mr E. R. T. Holmes, in an interview today, said that several of the players entertained hopes, that they would return next year as members of the English test team. He thought the personnel of that team would be vastly different from that which visited Australia on the last occasion. Mr G. O. Allen possibly would be captain. FRANK TARRANT’S TEAM IN INDIA FIRST TEST COMMENCED. (Received 10 a.m.) BOMBAY, December 5. Mr Frank Tarrant’s team of Australian cricketers today began a match against a Rajendra eleven. There were 20.000 spectators. Rajendra in the first innings made 125 runs for 7 wickets at the luncheon interval (Anarnath 33, C. Nayudu 36, Yuvraj 40). Yuvraj hit five sixes.
