LOW RATE BRITISH LOANS

IBritish Official Wireless .] (Received 10 a.m.) RUGBY, December 3. fpHE Treasury announcement of the floatation of two large Government borrowing operations, totalling £300,000,000 on terms which sets up a new record for cheap Government borrowing, gave much satisfaction to the gilt-edged section of the London Stock Exchange this morning. Leading Government issues were marked substantially higher. Consols, 2£ per cent, rose Id points to £BS 15/; conversion loan, 3£ per cent, rose d to £lO7 10/; and funding loan, 4 per cent, rose 2 to £ll7 10/. The “Daily Mail” says there can be little doubt that institutions connected with the Money Market will fully absorb the 1 per cent bonds, and a larger public will be attracted by the 2\ per cent funding loan, but to this also substantial subscriptions certainly will be forthcoming from banks, insurance companies and trustees.
