DISPUTE ABOUT FUND

[Special to “Northern Advocate”! THAMES, This Day.

Arising from the question as to who should distribute the surplus funds raised at the recent Queen Carnival held in aid of the local fire brigade, the central committee last evening refused a request of the brigade to pav over the surplus. The Mayor, Mr S. Ensor. said that he had been advised that there was no authority to pay out the surplus, and that the committee was taking legal advice in the matter. The secretary. Mr C. Scott, who is also secretary of the Fire Brigade, was required to retire with the Press while the subject was in hand. Mr Scott objected, but the meeting carried a vote excluding him.
