WAIKATO HUNT CLUB. EVENTS ON MONDAY AUCKLAND, This Day. The Jubilee meeting of the Waikato Hunt Club will be held at Cambridge on Monday, and this fixture, which has been so popular in |ke past, is sure to attract a very large attendance if the weather is fine. Large fields are engaged, and an excellent day’s sport is promised. The betting will be win and place. The programme will open with the Farmers’ Steeplechase, an event for gentlemen riders and horses that have never won a race at a meeting, point to point races excepted. Most money may come for; — Forest Glow, Semiarch, Windsor Lad. The Hunters’ Hurdles has attracted a field of 11. Preference may be shown for; — Gascille, Petrarch, En Tour. The biggest field of the day is carded for the Bardowie Handicap. A trio that may get support are:— Gay Defence, Midacre, 7 Gay Egypt. Baroscope, after his victory at Paeroa, and his third in the Mitchelson Cup, is now top-weight in the Member’s Memorial. He has done well since the Auckland spring meeting, and should be very troublesome. The favourites may be:— Silver Brier, Baroscope, Astarth. Cardhu, who is at the head of the Waikato Hunt Cup Steeplechase, was successful in two steeplechase events at the last Grand National meeting, and at the Auckland spring meeting was going well when he came to grief. Clan Ronald disappointed at Paeroa, but Prosy Boy won the Hunt Cup at the Pakuranga meeting. Golden England also failed at Paeroa, but if at his best he would be troublesome. Petrarch, after his second at Auckland, will be in demand if started. He has done well in the interim. Cromwell ran good races at Paeroa, winning on the first day, while at Ellerslie later he was in the picture when he fell in the Onehunga Steeplechase,. a mile from home. ,Zane Grey is one of the safest jumpers in the race, while Ardmanning, who won at Paeroa, was fourth in the Hunters’ Steplechase at the Auckland spring meeting. Several showers foil during training work at Ellerslte this morning, and the going was on the dead side. Number three grass was available for fast work the poles being out 10 feet from the rails. Several useful gallops were recorded, the best being those of Gay Defence, Solaria, Baroscope and Kiltowyn. , ~ The first to work were Black Marlin. On Parade, and Whirlmint, who ran four furlongs in 53 3-ssec. There was little between them at the finish, and On Parade impressed most. Tidalia and Sir Abb were timed to complete five furlongs in 1.6 1-5, the first two taking 26 l-ssec. There were on terms at the end. Maine was allotted a similar task, recording 1.6, the first two taking 25 4-ssec. Etcetera, after running his first three furlongs in 39 sec, was going nicely at the end of six, which took 1.20 3-5. Zane Grey Good. Rereatu was going better than Zane Grey at the conclusion of half a mile in 52 4-ssec. Zane Grey is in good order for his engagement at Cambridge on Monday. Teddy Boy and Express ran three furlongs in 38 1-5, and on to complete six in 1.18 4-5. They"put ’plenty of dash into their work. King Mestor and Hunting Maid got to the end of five furlongs in 1,7 1-5. Enlightenment and Vera Acre were timed to run six furlongs in 1.18, after running the first three in 37 3-ssec. They both went well. Gay Defence reeled off three furlongs in 37 l-ssec. He was running on solidly at the end. The stablemates, Professional and Ringshot, recorded 52 2-ssec for half a mile. Both these novices are on the improve. Roman Mascot completed six furlongs in 1.20 1-5. Royal Appellant was to have gone with her, but whipped round suddenly at the start and dislodged his rider. Gay Broney Does His Best. Chief Emerald finished in front of Supreme Ruler after traversing half a mile in 52 4-ssec. Gay Broney, with Tea Money to assist him, ran six furlongs in 1.19 2-5. They covered the first three in 38. 2-ssec, and Gay Broney was doing best at the end. Free Advice and Maori Song were not bustled to cover three furlongs' in 41sec. Solaria impressed more than Abbey Feale while running five furlongs in 15 1-5. They covered the first two in 24 3-5, and it was a very smart effort. Baroscope worked nicely while running six furlongs in 1.19. Lady Diana joined in over the last five, which was covered in 1.5 3-5.

Te Kapia and the Spear Dance— Mountain Ore representative ran home from the three furlong post in 40sec. In a similar task Marjorie Daw and Primak were timed to run 38 4-ssec. Marjorie Daw is making good progress. Kiltowyn had Green Patch as a companion over a round which occupied 1.42 2-5. They ran the last six in 1.18 1-5, and the final three in 40 3-ssec. Kiltowyn had the measure of Green Patch at the finish, but it was a good work-out on the part of both horses. On the sand Valspear completed six furlohgs in 1.22 3-5. Petrarch (A. McDonald) and Hawthorn (E. Stanway) gave a satisfactory display over four hurdles in the centre.
