A discovery which would solve the enigma, would greatly relieve their feelings, and those of other settlers in the vicinity who are feeling the position acutely. < Although the ground. has been _ well combed, the country is so difficult that the most obvious clue may easily have been overlooked, and an intensified search by large numbers is consiaered well worth while. . The corner of the Parker-Lamb_ access road, and the Tapuha road, which Will be the place of assembly, is about i 22 miles from Whangarei. . , • 1 Traffic approaching from trje North and Hukerenui will turn to the left by the Hukerenui store, cross the railway line and proceed*about two miles along the Tapuhi road, then turning to the Vehicles from the direction of Whangarei will turn to tile right immediately by the Waiotu Railway' Station, where a sign will be in place. All traffic movements-and the parking of cars will be in the sole charge of an A.A. official. Systematic Search. The search will be under the supervision of. the senior police officer present and it is intended to.' divide the people into detachments of:about 50, to work every piece of 'ground systematically. Each party will be under the supervision of a member of the police force, or a settler who knows the district intimately: Those who can provide transport are especially urged to co-operate, and all who take part are asked, to take their food with them. Some parties are sure to carry, the hunt into the swamps, where the going is most difficult. For these the possession of waders or high gumboots is advised. There is also much hill country to be traversed, and here stout walking boots or shoes., with old garments, will be necessary. Nearer the Johnson home, the country to be searched is much easier, so that if stout tramping gear is not obtainable, all will be able to fit in with some useful work. Road Graded.

The Parker-Lamb access road has been graded in anticipation :of heavy traffic tomorrow, and will present no difficulty to any class; of motor vehicle. ' ' • Mr Martin has communicated with a number of Whangarei people asking for direct appeals to be made to residents of the borough. The Mayor, Mr W, Jones, asks private car, owners, who have seats available to meet at the Whangarei Post Office about ,8.30 tomorrow morning. Fifty members of the Unemployed Workers’ Association have offered their services.

As a contribution to the effort, the Northern Motor Bus Co., is making a free bus available, and this will depart from the Post Office at 8.30 a.m. The seating capacity is 26. Several truck and motor car owners have also signified their intention to assist- in the voluntary search. Final Effort/ ‘ Between last Sunday and Thursday of this week, the number of settlers taking part in the search Was never less than 100. Fatigued,- and With their ■ farms neglected; many of them called a halt yesterday and today, but will join in the final effort tomorrow.
