A conference of representatives of various Government departments, whose duties comprise all classes of valuation work, was held in Wellington yesterday. It was resolved to form a New Zealand Government Valuers’ Institute for the purpose of promoting and maintaining the confidence of

the public, or interchanging ideas and information with the- institute and with kindred organisations, and of procuring uniformity of action, and attaining the maximum degree of efficiency among members. The following officers were elected; — President, Mr N. H. Mackie (Palmerston North); vice-presidents. Mr N. Eggleston (Christchurch), Mr G. L. Ewcn (Feilding), Mr A. W. A. Sweetman (Auckland); secretary, Mr W. G. Boswell (Palmerston North); treasurer, Mr T. H. Brosbie (Wellington).
