TO TAKE STRIKE BALLOT
BRITISH MINERS’ FEDERATION. MEDIATION OFFER REJECTED. (Received 11 a.m.) LONDON, October 24. The executive of the Miner’s Federation has rejected the Government’s mediation plan. It states that this plan did not offer an increase in wages, but merely sought to extract from the miners a promise to do in July, 1936, what they should have done in 1931. The federation also objects to the Government refusing to accept the proposals to submit the-miners’ claim to arbitration. The strike ballot, therefore, will proceed.
