Lean Mixture Effect. A mixture that is too lean will cause the engine to run hot. The heat sometimes become sufficient to break the spark plug insulator. Clean Sediment Bulbs. Removing and cleaning the sediment bulb in the fuel line occasionally is an excellent precaution. These bulbs usually hold a considerable amount of sediment but allowing them to go long uncleaned absolutely nullifies their usefulness as strainers.
