Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report on the sale as follows:—Beef; We yarded 425 head of beef, comprising 109 steers and 136 cows and heifers, against 211 head last week. The quality of the offering was first class, and, although the demand was steady, last week’s values were not reached. Cow and heifer beef came forward in big numbers, with values ruling lower than last week. Extra choice ox sold to 34/ per 1001 b; choice and prime, 30/ to 33/; just klllable, 24/ to 29/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 29/ to 33/; just killable, 21/ to 28/; extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £l4 10/ to £l4 17/6; heavy prime steers, £l3 to £l4 7/6; lighter, £H 15/ to £l2 17/6; lighter prime, £lO to £l2 17/6; small and unfinished, £8 10/ to £9 17/6; heavy prime young cows and heifers, £9 7/6 to £9 12/6; heavy prime cbws, £8 5/; lighter prime, £6 5/ to £8; other killable cows, £2 5/ to £5 15/.

Sheep.—The yarding of sheep was bigger than last week, and met with a good demand for all well-finished lines at rates on a par with last week. Prime, heavy hoggets, woolly, 24/6 to 25/9; medium prime woolly, 23/ to 24/; shorn, 19/6 to 21/9; prime heavy wethers, shorn, 25/ to 26/; medium prime woolly, 26/ to 27/9; shorn, 22/6 to 24/6; light and unfinished, woolly, ,24/6 to 25/9; shorn, 21/ to 22/3; heavy prime ewes, woolly, 23/3 to 24/3; shorn, 18/6 to 19/9; lighter prime, woolly, 22/ to 23/; shorn, 16/ to 18/; other ewes, woolly, 18/6 to 21/; shorn, 14/ to 15/6. Lambs. —A moderate entry of lambs sold under keen competition at full late rates. Medium prime lambs, 23/9 to 24/6; light prime, 22/6 to 23/6. Calves.—A full yarding of calves met with keen competition, and sftld readily at values very firm on last week’s quotations. Medium runners, £2 15/ to £4 5/; heavy vealers, £3 18/ to £4 6/; medium, £2 15/ to £3 5/; light, £2 8/.to £2 12/; smaller, £1 14/ to £2 2/; rough calves, 19/ to £1; bobby calves, 4/ to 8/. Pigs.—An average yarding of pigs came forward. Baconers met with a ready sale at improved rates, while porkers sold at values very firm on last week’s rates. Heavy baconers, £3 to £3 6/; medium, £2 14/ to £2 17/; light, £2 9/ to £2 12/; heavy porkers, £2 to £2 5/; medium, £1 16/ to £1 18/; light, £1 12/ to £1 15/; small and unfinished, £1 2/-to £1 10/.
