the kaitaia club
The Kaitaia Golf Club closed for the season last Saturday afternoon, when there was a good attendance of visitors and members. The usual competitions were held —driving, apprbaching and putting—and the following were the successful players:— Ladies’ driving: Mrs Stitt, 184 yards. Men’s driving: W. H. Stanton.' 223 yards. Ladies’ approaching. Miss C. Wilkinson. Men’s approaching: Corskie. Ladies’ putting: Miss M. Maria. Men’s putting: Smeaton. After a pleasant break, during which afternoon tea was served, Mr H. McDonald presented the trophies and made a very happy speech. He expressed his appreciation of the w.ay Mr Hester had met the golf club during the whole time they had been using his property as a course. Seeing the club had been in existence for 21 years,- Mr Hester could be called the “father of golf” in Kaitaia.
HOKIANGA GOLF CLUB
A medal and eclectic match was played on the Hokianga links duung the week-end. Mr J. Crallah won the medal round with a nett score of 67. Other cards were as follows. Mr„ J. Julian 69, F. Creighton 73, J. Julian 73, M. Houlihan 73, J. Murray 77, M. Crallah 79 :
