A CYCLIST’S PLEA.

' _____ (To the Editor.) Sir, —From time’ to time articles have appeared in the newspapers regarding the .englect of traffic regulations by cyclists, and urging that they be placed under legislative control. Admittedly some irresponsible cyclists have no regard for their own safety or the rules of the road, but there are two sides to every controversy. A large number of motorists, by their actions, appear to be under the impression that the roads are made solely for their use. On numerous occasions, motorists, without apparent’ reason, have cut in on me and forced me so close to the curb that I have had to stop; also, time and again, I have signalled my iritention of turning to the right when about twenty to thirty yards from the corner, but an insulting hoot from a car behind me has made it necessary—for my own safety—to slow up and forfeit my right-of-way. I myself have covered, as a motorist, over 50,000 miles and have ridden a cycle for 15 years, and in conclusion, may I plead for “fair play” on both sides. I am, etc.,

AT PRESENT A CYCLIST.
