HEAVY RAIN IN NORTH
SOME ROUTES BLOCKED [Special to “Northern Advocate.”! KAITAIA, This Day. The result of rain, which has fallen steadily since 5 o’clock last evening, was two feet of water over the road at Fairburn and the road at Oruru was impassable for ordinary motor traffic at 10 o’clock this morning. The mail car from »Kaitaia got through at Fairburn, but-would probably be held up at Oruru, where the flood began to rise at 4 a.m., and was over the road at 9 o’clock. At Kaitaia 1.48 inches of rain were recorded during the night and it was still raining at 11 o’clock. The rain will greatly benefit pastures.
