Reports from Addis Ababa state that the Emperor Haile Selassie, has ordered the massing of 100,000 troops in the Dolo sector of the Ogaden area, , with the object of advancing on Italian Somaliland. •. It is announced that the Italians attacked Makale with bombs and machine guns from aeroplanes. There were 60 casualties. This town is Italy’s next objective, and their advance guards are within 20 miles. ' Slavery Abolished. ■ A message from Asmara, the Italian headquarters in Eritrea, states that General de Bono has abolished slavery in the occupied areas of Abyssinia, and declared the natives exempt from taxation. • , . y Official figures of the killed and wounded in the battle of Adowa are: Abyssinians, 400; Italians and Askaris, 35. ' At Aksa the population held an allday feast in celebration of the arrivals of the Italians, to whom minor surrenders continue to be made. ’ Gugsa Tigre Overlord. The “Daily Telegraph’s” correspondent at Addis Ababa, says the Emperor has declared that troops must no longer invade villages on the way to the front and seize farmers’ live stock and provender. All armies must pay for everything, except fodder.. , At Adigrat, in striking ceremony, General de Bono proclaimed Degiac Haile Selassie Gugsa, son-in-law of the Emperor, who betrayed his country and surrendered with 12,000 armed men, overlord of the Tigre province. He said that the customs of the country would not be disturbed and that property would be protected.
