ADMIRAL’S SON KILLED.—PiIotOfficer Nevil Fisher, son of Admiral Sir William Fisher, Cdmmander-m-Chief of the Mediterranean Fleet, formerly Fourth Sea Lord and Naval AD C. to the King, was killed when his Royal Air Force aeroplane crashed in Lincolnshire. NEW PAPAL NUNCIO.—The Apostolic Delegate to Australia and New Zealand, Archbishop Bernardine, has been appointed Papal Nuncio at Berne. ANTI-GERMAN SPIRIT.—The American Federation of ’ Labour voted to oppose participation of the United States in next year’s Olympic Games at Berlin. The federation voted also that members should not participate in the games, but that a labour boycott on Nazi goods and services be intensified, and that all unions contribute to a fund for the help of German trade union refugees. £IO,OOO WINNERS.—A Dunedin syndicate has won a £IO,OOO prize in a Tasmanian sweepstake. Members of the syndicate are Mrs L. Boyce, and her son, Mr L. Boyce, of Anderson s Bay; Mrs A. H. Letherby, of St.Clair, and Mr A. F. Applegarth, of Invercargill. Another prize of £IOOO has been won in Dunedin.
