DOG TRIALS

OTAMATEA CLUB. [Special to "Northern Advocate .”] PAPAROA, This Day. The sixteenth annual meeting of the Otamatea Sheep Dog Trial Club was held in Maungaturoto on Wednesday evening, the president, Mr D. Fergus, senr., presiding over a good attendance of members. The balance sheet showed a credit balance of £9.3/6, which was consid--1 erld by members to be very satisfactory. The club showed a surplus of £lls 5/3 of assets over liabilities. The report and balance sheet was unanimously adopted. ' The election of officers resulted:— Patron, Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates; president, Mr D. Fergus, senr.; dents, Messrs, J. Dodds and A. Ariel; the various committees were re-elected with the same personnel as last year; hon. auditor, Mr C. B. A. Lindsay; secretary and treasurer, Mr D. Finlayson. The question of reinvesting the fixed deposit which'shortly falls due, was left in the hands of the president and secretary It was decided to hold trials next year, as usual at Maungaturoto. The president said that members should keep in mind Mr R. Finlayson’s offer of a 10-guinea cup for lady competitors. This event should prove a good draw for the club. Mr Fergus moved a hearty vote of thanks to Mr D; Finlayson, who had been secretary to the club during the past nine years, and had done a great deal to build it up to its present solid position. In moving a vote of thanks to the president, Mr D. Finlayson said that his energy and ability were an inspiration to the other members, and the club owed him a debt of gratitude.
