MARRED BY RAIN. WEEK-END FIXTURES WHANGAREI CLUB VISIT DARGAVILLE. Rain again marred the week-end fixtures. Links are now getting in a very soggy condition ahd are beginning to cut up. A team of 15 members of the Whangarei Golf Club, comprising Dr. Buckley, C. Bailey, D. J. Thomson, D. Roberts, W. Conaghah, A. Gillespie, C. Doreen, R. Gray, S. Weston, Sheen. M. Fulton, A. V D. Jack, J. Littlewood, B. Burgess and Gilligan, visited the Dargaville Club. It was possible to play the morning round only, and in that match Dargaville registered a win. The afternoon four-ball had to be called off, just after the players had started. AT MOUNT DENBY. Last week’s match at the Mount Denby links was a bogey match, in which Glanville and Gilligan tied with 2rdown cards. In the count-back over the last nine holes,' Gilligan was adjudged the winner. Other good cards were returned by .Conaghan, Waddell and Littlewood, 3 down. , Trembath Cup. The first round of the Trembath Cup competition was played by members of the Whangarei Ladies’ Golf Club. Results:—Miss Lamb beat Miss Rishworth, 4 and 3; Miss Hosking beat Mrs Trembath 4 and 3; Miss Higginson beat Mrs Parkes 2 and 1; Mrs Weston, beat Miss ’Collins, 1 up; Mrs Sheen beat Miss Piper, 1 up at the 19th; Miss Stewart beat Mrs Christiansen, 3 and 2; Miss Steele beat Mrs Lynch, 5 and 4. WHAU VALLEY FLAG MATCH. The flag match played by members of the Whau Valley Men’s Club was won by A. Walker, who got it along the 19th. The L.G.U. match played by the ladies was “won by Mrs Bayley, 107— 30 —77, and the next best cards were those of Miss Tucker, 101—23—77, Mrs Going, 108—30 —78; Mrs Martin, 96 17—79 t and Miss M. MAUNGATAPERE BEATEN. The Portland Cup challenge match was played at Maungatapere links on Saturday under pleasant conditions.
