PROFESSIONAL BOXING Making his first appearance in New Zealand after a successful season in Australia, Bunny Martin will meet Tarby Thompson in a professional bout at the Whangarei Town Hall next Monday night. Martin, a clever two-handed boxer, has already won ten fights since his debut as professional middleweight, and has benefited greatly by his "experience in the Australian rings. Thompson, who is making his debut as a professional, earned himself a reputation as a knock-out artist amongst ! the amateurs. He is an aggressive, hard-hitting fighter, and although only a middleweight, has k.o.ed several of New Zealand's best heavyweights in gymnasium bouts. Martin and Thompson rank as the two fastest middleweights in the Dominion today, although their styles j are vastly different. Martin is a! boxer—Thompson essentially a fighter. 1 What will be the result of their bout, ! whether or not Martin will be able to withstand the terrific two-handed hit- ( ting of his rugged opponent, it is im- I possible to say. It is safe to say. ! however, that whatever the outcome. ' the bout will be packed full of interest I and action from gong to gong. 258 1
