CHURCH AND UNEMPLOYMENT: SYNOD RESOLUTION.^ [Per Press Association. — Copyright.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The unemployed problem and the atttitude the Church should adopt officially were debated at the Annual Synod of the Wellington Anglican Diocese yesterday. It was moved that the Synod express appreciatoin of the efforts made by the various authorities and all Christian people to undergo the necessary sacrifice involved in establishing a .minimum standard of decent living ; for all persons. After mucli discussion, an amendment was carried in the terms of the resolution of the General Synod: ! “That the Wellington Synod, while recognising the duty of Christians to ; assist those in distress, cannot rest content with the performance of ! work of mercy within the framework of an un-Christian environment, but is convinced that the Church must use every effort to transform the j social order so as to bring it nearer the mind of Christ.”
