The statement is..balanced at £27,890,679. or £9872 more than at the close of the previous week. _ The fall in the note issue which has characterised the return since the end of April, continues, the total be-, ing £61,202 less than in the previous return. The State deposits have de-. creased by the nominal amount 01.£38,471, .£38,471, while those of the trading, bank show a rise of £114,484. '. On the assets side, the gold reserve has increased by £1 10/-, though discarding the shillings and pence in-the., return makes it appear as £l. Thissuggests that there are still a few, 1 stray gold coins for the bank to-.* gather in. With the exception of -arise of £11,388 in the item “other" assets,” the changes on this side of, the balance sheet are nominal.
