The first international Rugby match of the season was played at Twickenham today between England and Wales. The result was a tie, each team scoring three points. The attendance totalled more than 70,000, a record for the ground. Twenty-four special trains contained, Welsh supporters, many of whom were wearing red berets and carrying leeks. Wooller scored for Wales early in the first half, and Broughton equalised for England with a penalty goal two minutes before time.
