Queensland in the second innings had made 111 for 5 wickets (Christy 26, Andrews 36, Bensted, not out, 23). when stumps were drawn.

For the fifth time in succession Wyatt won the toss, and the visitors batted first. They made 226 runs (Wyatt 38, Hendren 32, Ames 67, Holmes 37). Constantine took 4 wickets for 40. When stumps were drawn Trinidad had scored six for no wickets.

NOTTS CONTROVERSY. •UNEXPECTED PEACE MOVE. • (Received 9 a.m.) LONDON, January 19. There has been an unexpectedly early peace move in the Notts dispute. Messrs Whitby and Woolley, representing the conveners of the meeting held cn January 16, visited the secretary of the Notts Club, Mr H. A. Brown, and suggested that they, with Mr Adams, seconder of the no-confidence motion, should meet three representatives of the committee so as to enable each side to nominate six candidates for. the new committee. If those selected prove acceptable to both parties they should be officially nominated at the annual meeting. Mr Brown agreed to convey the suggestion to the committee.

MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE AGAINST V. W. C. JUPP. YOUTH KILLED IN COLLISION. (Received 9 a.m.) LONDON, January 19. Following the death in hospital of Denis Moysey, aged 19, one of two youths on a motor cycle, with which the Northampton cricketer Jupp’s car collided on January 12, the driver, has been charged with manslaughter. Jupp was not present in Court, a doctor stating that accused was suffering from concussion and multiple injuries causing insomnia and nocturnal delirium and necessitating soporific drugging. Prosecuting counsel said police officers had visited Jupp and had found him normal. They regarded the doctor’s evidence as unsatisfactory..

The case was adjourned until Tuesday.

V. W. C. Jupp has been a promin.ent cricketer in England for nearly 20 years. He was one of the country’s best all-rounders, and in 1921 played in test matches against Australia. He is in his forty-fourth year.
