BAY ICE BREAKING. SOUTH POLE PLATEAU. LIN£ ESTABLISHED. (Received 9 a.m.) NEW YORK, December 27. A wireless message from the Byrd Antarctic expedition at Little America states: — ■ ■ ■ “The chief topic of conversation today is the breaking of the ice in the Bay of Whales. It is sailing in huge floes towards the Ross Sea.
“The only other item of interest was the receipt, today of a brief wireless message from the Blackburn geological party, indicating that. its explorations had established the. fact that the vast elevated plateau which encircles,, the South Pole is connected with the recently discovered Marie Byrd Land plateau.
