BUTTER MARKET FIRM. PRICE UP TO 76/-. CHEESE STILL STEADY. Messrs Allen and Findlay’s cable of December 28 states:—Butter market firm, New Zealand salted, 73/ to 76/ (last year, 66/ to 68/); unsalted, 74/ to 76/ (70/ to 72/). Cheese market firm. New Zealand white, 45/ to 47/ (47/ to 48/); coloured, 45/ to 47/ (44/ to 45/). The New Zealand Producers’ Coop. Marketing Association, Ltd., today received a cable from London dated December 28 reading as follows: —Butter: New Zealand, finest. 76/; first, 74/; Danish, 120/. Cheese: New Zealand, white, 46/6; coloured, 46/ to 47/.
Messrs Dalgety and Co., .Ltd., report having received the following cablegram from their London principal, Messrs Samuel Page and Son, Ltd., dated December 27: —Butter: The market is firm. New Zealand finest salted, 75/; Danish, 100/; Australian finest unsalted, 74/ to 76/; Australian finest salted,. 74/; Australian g.a.q., 71/ to 72/. Cheese: The market is firm. New Zealand cheese, white, 45/ to 46/; coloured, 44/ to 46/: Canadian white, 54/ to 56/; Canadian coloured, 54/ to 56/. Messrs A. H. Turnbull and Company, Ltd., have received a cable from Messrs W. Weddel and Company, Ltd., dated December 28, reading: Danish butter, 122/ (last year. 100/ to 102/); New Zealand salted. 76/ (66/ to 68/); Australian, 75/ (66/ to 68). New Zealand cheese, white, 47/ (47/ to 48/: coloured, 47/ (44/). RETAIL PRICES. CHRISTCHURCH ADVANCE. [Per Press Association,—Copyright.] CHRISTCHURCH. This Day. Retail prices for all grades of butter will be advanced per lb in Christchurch as from today. The increase is due to the improved London market.
