DOG SAVES DOG
A BRISTOL RESCUE Paddy, a dog which had been seized with cramp and was exhausted after efforts to escape from a treacherous mudbank, was saved with the help of another dog at Bristol recently. Hundreds of people gathered while police, firemen, ambulance men and others tried in vain to reach the dog with ladders. Paddy was exhausted when a Bristol lorry driver, Mr. C. Baker, who was returning from work to his home in Clarence Road, saw his predicament. Mr. Baker went home and returned with Patsy, his own Airedale. He was warned by the police, but persisted in trying to save Paddy. “As I went forward,” Mr. Baker said, “the mud was soon up to my knees. I got within a few yards of the dog and could go no further. “Patsy understood. She waded through the mud to the other animal. I called my dog back, and the other dragged itself after her.” Mr. Baker was then able to carry the dog to safety: It soon recovered. \-
