GIRL DROWNED
VERDICT AT INQUEST ISpecial to “Northern Advocate,”] OPOTIKI. This Day. The inquest concerning the death of Oro Hudson, aged nine, who was drowned while bathing in the Otara River on December 22, was concluded yesterday by the coroner. Mr. F. J. Short. Evidence was given by Dr. E. Candy that the child was dead when he arrived. There was a bruise on her leg, but in. his opinion death was caused by drowning. Two girls bathing with Ora Hudson said that after dressing they missed her and sent for her father. The girl’s father said the river was clear of snags and stones. The bruise was caused by a fall from a tree a week previous. A verdict was returned that death was caused by drowning.
