OBITUARY
MR A. H. McKAY. [Per Press Association. — Copyright. .l WELLINGTON, This Day. The death occurred recently in Wellington of Mr Alexander Herbert McKay \yho, until he was superannuated in 1925, occupied the position of registrar of the Native Land Court, Wellington. In 1901 he was appointed registrar of the Native Land Court at Wanganui, which position he held until 1918, when he was transferred to a similar position in Wellington. Mr McKay, who was born in 1864, was a son of the late Judge Alexander McKay, of the Native Land Court, ahd his father’s cousin was James McKay, who was said to have bought Westland from the Maoris for £2OO. DR. M. BERESFORD GUNN. [Special to “Northern Advocate.”] AUCKLAND, This Day. The death occurred yesterday afternoon at 656, Dominion Road, Mt. Eden, of Dr. Michael Beresford Gunn. He had been in ill-health and when a maid. Miss Bernice Toovey, went to his room she found him dead. A chloroform bottle was found on the table beside the bed. He had been taking chloroform on account of insomnia. An inquest was opened before Mr W. R. McKean, S.M., this morning, and, after evidence of identification, was adjourned sine die.
