An examination of the instruments after a test on Christmas Day revealed that Raymond Belmonte, , in a Caubron monoplane, had attained a speed of 314.3 miles an hour for three miles. Mr Ken Waller and Captain Franchomme, who recently flew from England to Leopoldville, Belgian Congo, in 51 hours, left on the return flight to Brussels today. The airmen reached Niamey, French West Africa, the journey being accomplished at an average speed of 195 miles an hour, in spite of slight trouble with the port engine, which they righted.
