W.D.F.U.

KAITAIA BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the Kaitaia branch of the W.D.F.U. was held in Foster's Rooms last week, when Mrs Lewis presided over a poor attendance of members. The roll-call, “Limericks,” caused much laughter. The results of the competition for the best plate of scones was: —Mrs A. McKenzie 1, Mrs E. Parker 2. Other competitions were won by Mrs Hudson and Mrs A. McKenzie. It was decided to hold a picnic in the A. & P. showgrounds on February 2, those attending to take their own lunch, hot water to be provided. Brisk business was done at the trading table, which was in the hands of the Church Road members. The programme for the next meeting, which will be held on February 20, will include the competition for something new out of something old. The articles will be sold for the W.D. F.U. funds if the competitors wish. A play reading will also be given. The meeting concluded with afternoon tea served by Mesdames Bell, Buckle. Hudson and Dr Torrie.
