A. W. Carr’s Heart Attack. Arthur Carr probably owes his life to the prompt action of a chemist, says “The Sporting Chronicle.” As it is, he may not be able to take any further part in cricket this season. He had a severe heart attack while driving his car from Birmingham to Malvern early in July. When a few miles from Worcester, on the Malvern road, Mr Carr felt ill, and stopped his car outside a chemist’s shop. He entered, gave the ’phone number of his sister-in-law at Malvern, where he was bound for, and gasped: ‘T am very ill.” The chemist was able to give him a partial restorative, at the same time summoning a doctor, who expressed the opinion that only the chemist’s action saved Mr Carr’s life. * * * * English Golfers Marry. Mr John Beaumont Beck and Miss Dorothy Helen Pirn, well-known golfers, wore married in London on September 11. The best man was Mr Dale Bourne, another famous golfer.
