KARA OFFICERS ELECTED. There was a large gathering of ladies present at a meeting held in the Kara Hall on October 31, to form a Women’s Institute, Mrs Clarke, of Whareora, and Mrs Holmes, from Whangarei,. ‘ were present and in charge: of the meeting. Mrs Clarke gave an interesting address on the origin and ideas of the Institute, and also displayed a collection',of mats, toys, vases, etc., which Were very much admired. It being decided to form an Institute, the following officers were elected:—President, Mrs W. Millar; vicepresidents, Mrs W. Kokich and Mrs C. McKinley; secretary, Mrs Courtney; treasurer, Mrs W. Attwood. Afternoon tea was served by the ladies and a very pleasant afternoon was brought to a close with the singing of the Institute song.
