WAIMAMAKU
SOCIAL AFTERNOON. The Waimamaku Methodist Ladies’ Guild held a social afternoon in the church hall last week. After a hymn and a prayer, Rev. Grice and the president, Mrs J, Underhill, welcomed the visitors from Rawene and Pakanae. Pleasure was also expressed at the presence of Mrs Parlane. senr., after her recent illness. Musical items and competitions filled in a pleasant afternoon. Items were supplied by Mrs ]?. Bracey and Miss C. Fell, together with recitations by Mrs Mortimer, from Auckland. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs L. Hook and Mrs T. Hallahan. A produce stall was in charge of Mrs P. Bourke and Miss Jean Parlane. Personal. Mr V. O’Donnell has been appointed librarian. Mr P. H. D. Smith is relieving at the Weka Weka School during the absence of Mr A. Dobson, who is sitting for degree examinations at Thames.
