The first act of violence in connection with "the , election^......isr reported from Hazelton, Pennsylvania. x In the mining village of Kelayres, five miles, south of Hazelton* : ithree people were killed and many were injured as the result of unknown persons firing a machine gun on a parade of Democrat, supporters. Several of the injured are reported to be dying. The parade was being held in conjunction with a final political rally. It is not known what was the immediate cause of the blit according to reports the. machine gun fusillades came from the secohd.storey of a building reputed to be the home of a prominent Republican' politician. Emergency police were called out to prevent the Democrats fropi making against the alleged perpetrators of the outrage. : One report states that 19 people, including six women, were wounded.
