POHOTU PLAYS EIGHTEEN FINE SHOTS (Special lo •‘Northern Advocate.’’) ROTORUA, This Day. A thunderstorm refer by Pohutu at 6 o’clock on Saturday morning heraldled the fact that thermal activity was ! about to take place, and shortly afler- | wards volumes of boiling water 1 poured over the crater and down to i the bridge crossing the Purengi : stream, which is in proximity. A little I later Pohutu sent up its first shot out of 18 shots. j The periods of activity of Pohutu lasted from 10 to 35 minutes, and the ■time between them was from half an : hour to an hour throughout the day. j The shots varied from 35 to 70 feet in height. j The Waikorohihi, Waikite and Prince of Wales Feathers geysers were , also active, playing simultaneously after a period of quietude lasting over 1 three months.
