HOUSEHOLD HINTS.
Coffee Stains. —Coffee stains on delicate materials should be rubbed gently with glycerine, rinsed in tepid water and ironed on the wrong side with a moderately hot iron till dry.
Dark Straw Hat.—To revive a dark straw hat, brush a very, very little salad oil thoroughly into the straw with an old nailbrush. Continue brushing until quite dry.
Coloured Washing.—Coloured goods will not run when washing if a little salt and vinegar is added to the water; it does not harm woollen garments.
Separating Eggs.—When you have to separate the white from the yolk of mi egg, break it into a funnel. The white will run through!
Biscuits and Cakes. —Biscuits and cakes will keep fresh if a little sugar is sprinkled in the bottom of Ihe tin where they are kept.
Tarnished .Silver, —When silver is very tarnished mix a few drops of ammonia with the plate powder when cleaning it. It will work Avonders in a verv short time.
Left-over Vegetables.—A teaspoonful of sugar will work absolute wonders with left-over vegetables wliich are so apt to taste horribly flat when re-heated. It will give them back their “garden ” taste without sweetening them noticeably.
Scraping Carrots.—The next time you want to scrape carrots, dip them in water and scrape them with the pot scourer instead of with a knife. It will take a quarter of the time.
