MIDLAND ASSOCIATION. j 1 SUMMER MEETING. j 1 A meeting of the North Midlands. Primary Schools Sports Association 1 was held in the Parakao School on Wednesday night. Mr J. G. Draper presided over a fair attendance. i The secretary expressed apprecia-[ tion of the assistance received from the ladies and men who accompanied the children on their recent Auckland • trip, j A small donation was made to thej Rev. Nightingale for out-of-pocket expenses in connection with the visit.' The balance sheet of the Auckland trip was adopted. ( It was decided to invite a party of children from the Normal School to the association’s district on January 14, 1935. The children, who will number about 50, will be billeted in the dis- ! trict, and will stay a week. , One day will be taken up in sports, 1 to be held at Parakao, and the rest of the time will be spent in entertain-' ment and sight-seeing. j An entertainment committee com- ( prising Messrs. K. Hayr, Draper and i Babe was appointed. It was agreed that the visits of parties of school chil-' dren be every two years. It was also decided to hold public meetings at Maungatapere, Parakao, and Tangiteroria, in an endeavour to i interest parents in the association’s ac-j tivities. The athletic sports are to be j held on December 14 at Tangiteroria, j when there will be a similar pro-| gramme to the previous athletic sports,! with the exception of the tug-of-war. j The following officials were appoint-1 ed:— i Judges.—Running: Messrs. C. David-1 son, J. McKinlay, Mooney, W. David- j son, J, Nash; jumping: Messrs. A. Pol-| lock, J. Breslin, V. Kokich. Timekeep- j ers: Messrs. B. Smith, H. Aitkins. Call, stewards: Messrs. F. Grantham, J. Wil-j son, Mieklejohn, J. Alison, Going. I In connection with the summer | sports, it was decided to start in Feb- ] ruary and finish in March. | In basketball, the height limit of; I goal throwers was made sft. 2in. The weight limit in this game was abolished. A notice of motion was proposed that schools with senior children from Std. 11. and over, up to 17, enter two teams, and up to 28, three teams.
