I ; It is hereby notified that the usual Junior and Senior Public Service Entrance Examinations for Shorthandtypists will be hold on the 17th' November. In addition it is proposed to hold the following examinations in the four main centres on the Ist December:— Intermediate Examination: Shorthand 130 words a minute; typewriting 50 words a minute. Special Examination: Shorthand 350 words a minute; typewriting 50 words a minute. If sufficient candidates offer, an examination for the purposes of the Shorthand Reporters’ Act, 3908, will also be conducted in conjunction with the Intermediate and 'Special Examinations. This examination requires a speed of from 350 to 180 words a minute in shorthand, with not more than one per cent, of _crror in transcript. The fee for this examination is £2 2/-, and applications must also bo accompanied by evidence that applicant has attained the age of 21 years, and at least two testimonials as to character.

Applications close 38th October, 1934, but late applications will bo received up to Ist November if accompanied by a late foe of 2/6 in addition to the usual entrance fee of 5/- for the Junior, and 10/- for the Senior Examination; and a late fee of 5/r in addition to the usual entrance fee of 15/- for the Intermediate and £1 for the Special Examination. NO APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE Ist NOVEMBER.
