DEATH TO RAGWORT
SPREAD OF WEED CHECKED, REMARKABLE NEW PREPARATION. TTNDOUBTED~EFFICTENCY. Probably tbo greatest menace to New Zealand Primary industries today is tbe spread of noxious weeds, especiallv ragwort, wliicli lias come to be regarded as the yellow peril. - Conferences have been held all over the country, ana many methods have been suggested to check the advance of the choking and poisoning weeds. Experts have experimented with scientific methods with varying degrees of success, but it has remained for Mr A. Sorieli, of Papatoetoe, to evolve a. sure and certain weapon against ragwort and its kindred noxious growths. The use of sodium chlorate in this direction has been the cause of many terrible accidents, in numerous cases with fatal results; but Mr So rich’s noxious weed exterminator is not only non-explosive, it is also non-poisonous, will not ignite, kill the grass, and’in fact is beneficial to the land. With all these attributes it is little wonder that this exterminator has achieved widespread popularity. Its efficiency is indicated by the fact that gorse can bo eradicated with two sprayings and blackberry with three, ’while other noxious weeds can be exterminated with one application. Mr Sorlch estimates that the cost of clearing an acre of gorse, based on two sprayings, would not exceed £2, while an acre of blackberry, sprayed three times, would be cleared for £2 15/-. Striking evidence of the efficacy of the preparation was provided in' the shrivelled specimen of ragwort and other weeds which were displayed on Mr Sorich’s land at the Waikato Winter Show.
Remarkable evidence of interest by the farming community of the Waikato district in this wonderful discovery is apparent by the numerous requests and inquiries for information since the closing of the Waikato Show. I\[r Sorich’s exterminator has been described as a boon to New Zealand farmers and urban communities, ns it is equally effective against all classes of weeds.
Amongst the many original testimonials received is one from a user at Pukeatua, who states that with this ragwort spray ho had registered a 100 per cent, kill; another user writes that not a single plant is now showing, while the grass and clover are growing as well as ever; while another says that it is much superior to sodium and more effective. The popularity of this exhibit at the Waikato Winter Show has even been eclipsed at the present winter show In Auckland. It has been said that if a man has discovered how to make two blades of grass grow whore one grew previously he lias solved the first problem of successful fanning. How much greater should be his success if he has discovered how to make grass grow where none grew before? Use The-Sor-Ich Noxious Weed Fxtermiu'afor and turn those waste lands into pasture. l\lr Sorich has also a range of teat cups and milking machine utensils of quality at prices that will appeal to all farmers with an eye to value. 655
