Middle White. Quite a nmnher oi progressives Avnnld like to try the Middle White tor pressing with the Largo White or Ta inworth, but they are hindered in their desire by the difficulty or impossibility of securing the right type of Middle White in this country. Jf the embargo on the importation of live stock from Britain be lifted undoubtedly arrangements would be made for
the importation of Middle Whites from Homo. Mr 11. D. Garo, of Hamilton, is keenly in favour of the Middle White for crossing with' the Large White. Ho lias already a few Middle Whites and hopes to secure further desirable blood on a projected trip to Australia. At the last Waikato Winter Show Mr Caro secured second prize on the hoof and again on the hooks with a Largo White-Middle White Cross, grain fed, and when the carcase was made into bacon the sides gave about the best
type of liocoii wo Love soon. How much this was duo to breed and how jnuoh to food it is not possible to say, but the proportion of fat to lean w/is ideal, the eye of meal was exceptional (probably due to breed) and the interlarding of fat with lean was what is so mueh to be desired for quality bacon.
