NEW ZEALAND CONTROL POLSON BILL WITHDRAWN. ■; MINISTER PROMISES ACTION. (Per Press Association.— Copyright.) WELLINGTON, This Day. .■ The second reading debate f the Meat Export Control .Bill (Mr IV. J. Poison) was moved in the House of Representatives yesterday. The. Hon. C, E. Macmillan, Minister of Agriculture, said his promise that the Government would adopt the pleasure would be redeemed. Prevision. would be made for space in freezing Vvbrks for the meat of owner-pro-ducers.

Mr J. Connolly (Government, MidGanterbliry) said" local freezing companies must be protected. If quota .was imposed, it must bo at the expense of overseas concerns. , Mr A. Stewart (Government, Rangltikei) said he had never boon, refused Space in freezing works, and Anew of no' One Who had. It seemed to him that’ the bill protected trusts more than otherwise. Provided the Government kept control of trusts and did not allow them to become too big, competition would be in the interest Af the country. , The bill was read a second time. U The Imperial Economic Committee has issued a voluminous survey of the ' cattle and beef industry. It says recent developments are encouraging efforts'On the part of cattle raisers in the. Southern Dominions and Southern Rhodesia, in the expectation that they will enjoy in future a. larger share of the chilled beef trade. -Successful experimental consignments already have been made, but before the trade can assume substantial proportions much remains to be done. Chief among the problems awaiting solution are more .rapid maturity, the grading up of stock, and efficient transport to abattoirs and from abattoirs to their final destination.
