AIR RAID EXPERIMENTS
LONDON AND OTHER CENTRES DEFENCE HOLDS OUT WELL. MOST ATTACKS INTERCEPTED. (Times Cable.) LONDON, July 27. The air exercises ended today with a stream of daylight attacks on London, but there was a much bigger percentage of successes by the defenders. Woven out of nine squadrons were intercepted and 29 out of 40 were intercepted last night. An official report expresses the opinion that the ■“casualties” of raideramounted to 33 per cent one night, but it admits Hint vital parts of war were not tested, as an enemy would choose misty nights. ■While the stations of the defending aeroplanes were enshrouded in mist and machines were not allowed to leave the ground, air raiders successfully bombed the Marble Arch during the manoeuvres yesterday.
Another squadron failed in its attack on an imaginary chemical headquarters, owing to interception by fighting aeroplanes. The night attacks included several big towns in England.
