The Munich correspondent of the “Daily Mail” states that Herr Hitler is doing his utmost to clear his regime from responsibility for the Ans-. trian rising. He has dismissed Herr Habieht for alleged, complicity in the recent events and has ordered Austrian Nazis resident in Germany, to hand in their uniforms and arms. The Chancellor states that any Nazis who attempt to cross into Austria will be shot.

AUSTRIAN REBELS DETERMINED'. (Received noon.) VIENNA, July 27. Fighting continues in upper Austria and Cavinthia', which is almost isolated from Vienna. The rebels retained the town of Mollbrucken ins their headquarters, also .St, Veitanderglan, Feldkirchcn, Wolfsberg, Bleiburg and portions af the Tabern and other railways. Regular troops are occupying Villach in expectation of a frash Nazi attack. The .Styrian rebels are reported to have been routed and order restored, The Government is collecting discarded weapons. The Nazis’ stronghold of toben was captured after three bombardments. Over 1000 Nazis suddenly appeared on the Yugo-Slav frontier, and a battery of artillery was posted to check their advance. Two are reported to have been killed in a fight between frontier guards and Austrian Nazis who crossed the German-Austrian frontier at Killerschlag, and attempted to storm a Customs house. It is believed that Prince von Starhemberg, the Hcimwohr leader,, who is an ardent admirer and friend of Signor Mussolini, is demanding that Austria must bo a full-blooded Fascist state on Italian lines. The entire Hcimwohr has been mobilised.

Herr von Drascnnvich, lender of the Austrian' Nazi refugees in Western Germany, said: “Brothers cannot long be separated.” He added that there arc several thousand such refugees throughout Germany placed in camps because tiiis is the cheapest method of living. Anschluss is their eventual goal, but at present they demand only Austria’s liberation from tyranny. Austrian Nazis desire peaceful co-oper-ation with the German Reich.
