THE PLAZA. GENERAL JOHN REGAN. The screen adaptation of J. A. Birmingham’s famous novel, and which was later produced as a stage play, was transferred to the screen and shown at the Plaza. Theatre last night. The picture portrays typical Irish life, and throughout a broad Irish dialect lends its flavour to the charming and tranquil surroundings of the picturesque countryside. To tho peaceful village of Ballvmoy comes an American tourist. His contempt for the sleepy inhabitants finds ventilation in feigned amazement when his inquiries about a mythical General John Regan reveal a natural ignorance. His ruse to hoax the inhabii tanks is quickie taken up by the local doctor, who has the spirit of adventure and the gift of the blarney. From a little pebble, the deception rapidly grows to the proportion of a snowball, and it is almost earned away bv its own weight, saveil only by the nimble wit of the doctor. The supports are up to the high Plaza standard, a musical comedy, a fine gem of Welsh scenery, and novelty “/Kline No. 11, The film will be shown again tonight tit the Plaza.
