RUGBY FOOTBALL
THE HIKURANGI CLUB. ENTHUSIASTIC ANNUAL MEETING. Cue of the most successful annual mootings in the history of the Hikujangi Rugby Club was held in the hotel dressing shed yesterday, when Mr A. Steele presided over an attendance of about 50 members and supporters. The report showed that the senior team had an unbeaten record, and won the senior championship (for the second year in succession), the Knock-Out Cup and the Mitchell Cup. The third grade team also won their competition for the second year in succession. The club has a credit balance of over £l2, and the Ladies’ Committee has £2O in hand for the erection , of a. dressing shed at Dickson Park.
The election of officers resulted ns follows; —Patron, Dr. Armstrong (reelected); president, Mr A.. Steele (reelected); vice-president, Mr N. Gibson; hon, secretary and treasurer, Messrs S. J. Wood and A. Finlay,son (who will act in a joint capacity); hon. surgeon, Dr. Armstrong: auditor, Mr J. Eyfe; delegates to the Whangarei Rugby Union, Messrs S. J. Wood and J. Hamilton; selector, Mr S. J. Wood: coach, Mr G. Lawrie; committee, Messrs W. Cosail 1, M. McKenzie, -I. Hamilton, J. Kerr and J. Redwood.
The club has nominated senior, jun ior and third grade teams in the con petition.
Especially keen interest is being taken in the junior team, which it is hoped, this season, will be built up so that it may approach the splendid records established by the other sides fielded by Hiknrangi.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to the outgoing officers, carried with great acclamation.
