CHATHAM TAKES PLATE ROGILLA CAPTURES CUP. PETER PAN RUNS WELL. f (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) SYDNEY, April 8. The Australian Jockey Club was favoured with ideal weather for the concluding day of its autumn meeting at Eaudwick yesterday. The track was h. excellent order and the attendance was 32,000. The Doncaster Handicap winner, Chatham, continued on his winning way with an easy victory in the C. W. Cropper Plate. Oolden Wings was favoured atsthe start. Due to his bad manners at the machine he was hurdled off at the outside and was moving to take up a position when the barrier was lilted. Making most of his advantage, Golden Wings quickly established a substantial lead and led round the turn, but was unable to pace it in* the final stages with the mighty Chatham, while Closing Time also defeated him. -The King’s Cup, the field for which comprised Australia’s best weight-for-age horses, including .two Melbourne Cup winners, Peter Pan and Hall Mark, provided the most thrilling finish seen at Rand wick for a long time. Peter Pan, Knvera and Rogilla raced ablest for the last half-furlong, Rogilla ''finally getting his nose in front a stride from the post. The crowd showed its appreciation with a loud and prolonged'-burst, of cheering.

,T. E. Pike and D. Munro each rode two winners, and Pike also gained two seconds. Results: —

Also started: Toni Pinch 8.11. Golden Wings was the first to show out and quickly established a two lengths lead, but Chatham joined him turning for home and Closing Time and Tom Pinch were in ’.lose attendance. ‘ Passing the Leger Chatham dl-ew away and won with ease bv 21 lengths from Closing Time. Dangar Handicap, of 450 sovs; 1 mile and a half. —Gippsland, 8.1 (A. B, Knox), 1; -Tingalba, 0.2 (J. E. Pike), 2; Balgay, 6.1 (F. L. Wailes), 3. Nino started. Bogorson was the early pace maker. Balgay and Lightning March were the first to turn for home from Tingalba, Confab and Gippsland. Passing the Leger, Tingalba took charge, but was unable to withstand a determined challenge from Gippsland, who got up in time to win by a long head. Time, 2.30^.

Fornhill Handicap, of 450 sovs; two-vear-olds; one mile. —Sylvandalo, 8.11 (J. E. Pike), 1; Thoo (N.Z.-bred), 0.0 (M. McCarten), 2; Artful Clare, 7.10 (S. C. Shelton), 3. Eighteen started. Bogerio, Croupier and Queen Helen were the early leaders. Approaching the turn Croupier was a length clear from -Sylvandalo, Queen Helen and Theo. When they straightened for home, (Sylvandalo assumed control and, inishing best, won by 14 lengths. Time, 1.304.

THE KING’S CUP. Of 2000 sovs, and gold cup valued at £IOO, the gift of His Majesty the, King; highest handicap weight 9.5, lowest not less' than 7.0; one mile and a half. ROGILLA, 9.3 (D. Munro) 1 PETER PAN, 9.5 (J, E. Pike) .... 2 KUVERA, 8.9 (M. McCarten) .... 3 Eleven started. When they settled down Oro led the field by a length, followed by Mr Kerry, Silver Scorn and Peter Pan, with Rogilla at the rear of the field. Oro and Mr Kerry together were the first into the straight, followed closely by Peter Pan, Silver Scorn and Kuvera, with Rogilla making a fast move. Passing the Lcger, Peter Pan find Kuvera had a slight advantage from Rogilla. Then ensued a thrilling struggle with the three horses abreast. Rogilla poked his nose in front in the final stride and Avon by a head.

Final Handicap, of 650 sovs; one mile and a half. —Rivalli, 8.12 (R. C. Maxwell), .1; Milantheon, 8.12 (R. L. Tames), 2; Australia Fair, 8.4 (R, H. Cook), 3. Fifteen started. Rivalli ran to the front passing the mile and led for the remainder of the journey. Milantheon came fast in tlie straight but Rivalli hung on well and gained his victory by a length. Time, 2.5.
