HIS EXCELLENCY PRESENTS CUP.
REFERENCE TO “WOOL.”
After -welcoming the Australian team and congratulating the New Zealanders on their victory, his Excellency Lord Blodisloe, spoke of Empire relations. He made reference to the fact that even though the happiest relations existed -with Australia, it w r as necessary for ' Now Zealand to look after her own interests in the matter of her primary products, including wool. He then turned to Horton, the New Zealand captain, and made pointed reference to wool. Since Horton is more or less bald, the audience greatly enjoyed his Excellency’s clever quip. Lord Blodisloe also made reference to the family of Apperly, Who originated from the valley of the Stroud, in Gloucestershire, and stated that the family was of long name and highly respected. His Excellency then presented the cup to T. H. Horton, who replied on behalf of his team.
