FLOOD DANGERS.
To the Editor, Sir.—Some time ago, Mr W. Tlocy. when writing to'the press, mentioned that big floods have occurred in and about Whangarei, and that they will occur .again. If a flood were to occur now, I think the residents and business people in and about Water Street and Walton Street would have u very bad time, as the two streams from the dairy factory bridge to the gas works and; to .the Windsor Hotel are literally
clogged with willows. I don't It now uhy the borough council allows such' a state of things. Willows are easily killed when the sap is descending by boring a one inch hole sloping into the heart, and filling it with saltpetre, and tightly plugging the hole with a piece ef wood. — L am, etc., DREAMER.
