MERRIMAN CASE. HIS HONOUR’S COMMENTS. > Per Press Association.—Oopyrlfflit.J ■ CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. In referring to the case of Reginald John Merriman, charged with murdering his Avife and three children, Mr Justice Johnston, in his address to the Grand Jury, in the Supreme Court yesterday, traced the facts of the case. His Honour said it appeared that Merriman was a man who Avas A’ery distressed and Avas passing through an acute mental crisis OAving to family troubles. The facts spoke for themselves, and the ■circumstantial OAddence pointed to Merriman as the man Avho had committed the crime. The nature of the defence that might be raised was not for the consideration of the Grand Jury.
