strike of taxi-drivers. Many union

drivers were arrested for roughly • handling, the independent drivers who still operating. . The strikers forced passengers to vacate cabs, and refused to allow them to pay fares.

to the operators of the buses, who are demanding increased wages ’and recog-

nition from, their unions. The strike of cooks and waiters, ' which has been uneventful for the past few days, was marked by several 'disturbances today. About 1000 pickets, accompanied by their wives and children, clashed with the police in front of the . Waldorf Astoria hotel. Several people were injured before the police were able to clear the street. One hundred and fifty strikers who \Were picketing the Casino de Paris, a large- cabaret, attacked the establishment and broke all the doors and plate glass windows. According to them, their action was due to the fact that they had been made targets for a barrage of whisky bottles thrown from an upper window.
